Ruffians Edinburgh’s Favourite Hairstyles

Following on from the Ruffians Shoreditch’s favourite hairstyles, it is the turn of the Edinburgh team. With a contrast of styles and techniques, the Edinburgh team boasts a wealth of hair talent. Have a peek below and let us know which is your favourite:

What is it?

Textured Pom (Short sides & textured wavy top)

What to ask for?

Sides can be faded or scissor cut short, and everything in between, a contrast between the longer length on top, and shorter tighter sides.

Who does it suit?

Can be tailored to suit guys of any age, the shorter the sides the more contrast it has to the top. Best with gents with some natural texture or wave to hair. Good for thick or finer hair.

How to style?

Not as hard as you’d think! A shot of sea salt spray into damp hair, then dry with a scrunching action lifting at the roots, using a hairdryer held further away, or use a diffuser attachment. Stop when hair is almost dry, finish by scrunching in some styling paste thinned with a little water and more sea salt spray (if desired).

Why do you like it?

Works well with natural hair textures, gives volume on top, and good for a more relaxed low maintenance look.

What is it?

Graduated cut.

What to ask for?

Neat, but not too short at the back and sides, increasing length gradually as you go up the head. This will give you width. At the top, as for shorter at the crown going to longer towards the fringe.

How to style?

After stepping out of the shower and toweling yourself down from toes to head, with the hairdryer on a lower setting, use your fingers to lift the roots a little and then keep working the hair with your fingers until dry. Add Styling Paste from the crown to the fringe.

Why do you like it?

It’s a neat, natural look, that grows out well. Ideal for people who like a cut that doesn’t look cut…

What is it?

undercut with a quiff

What to ask for?

it to be “disconnected” (best word to use, cause undercut could mean anything forward or back) yeah so ask for it yo be disconnected and pushed all back like a pompadour also take pictures in with you so we can see exactly how you want it

How to style?

this is all depending on what look you want to go for e.g wet look using the ruffians pomade or something more natural pop in some styling paste whilst the hair is wet let the product absorb into the hair or use a sea salt spray again whilst the hair is damp, after blow drying your hair then you could finish it off with some super dust to give it that extra hold.

Why do you like it?

when it has no product in it looks very harsh which is really cool but when you put the right product through it then it becomes very smart and slick its like 2 haircuts in 1

What is it?

All styles as I love variety.

What to ask for?

What style will best suit my hair type, face shape and life style?

How to style?

I advise depending on the different styles that suit the individual. How people live their lives goes a long way in advising on how they can style their hair at home.

Why do you like it?

Just give me hair – I love to cut and style!

What is it?

Shoulder length square layered cut.

What to ask for?

Keeping the length but with a more masculine shape.

How to style?

Best on hair with some movement to it, run a touch of oil through the ends and maybe a spritz of sea-salt spray to bring out the curls and not the frizzy, air dry is always best! But if its cold out blow-dry while twisting and scrunching for a no fuss, gym or windy day, whack it in a man bun.

Why do you like it?

Its different, not everyone has it. I love getting to tweek a often feminine shape into something more manly

What is it?

Prince Charming haircut

What to ask for?

Neat around the ears, enough hair to push back on the sides and length on the top so hair can lie over to the side naturally – very soft looking cut.

How to style?

Very simple to style. Can spray salt spray, comb into place and leave to dry natural if you like to do minimal work. Or can blow dry this option would give the hair a little more height and volume finishing with a Ruffians styling paste.

Why do you like it?

Its a soft natural looking style which looks modern and professional at the same time.
