Shoreditch Area Guide

When we opened our first shop in Edinburgh’s West End in 2012 we were determined to re-establish the barbershop as a pillar of the local community, and that ethos still drives us today. Whether it’s supporting local businesses or just being friendly neighbours. Ruffians Shoreditch shop manager Tommy Cunliffe shares his tips for all things Shoreditch:

FITNESS

Early start and a cheeky trip to Barry’s Bootcamp to set you up nicely for your day. We have the pleasure of coiffuring a number of the trainers at Barrys. For a high energy workout to get your heart pumping and endorphins flowing there’s nothing like it.

COFFEE

Time for a post workout coffee?…Ozone is up there with some of the best coffee in London. As a concept they focus on building and maintaining relationships they have from customers to the coffee farmers. Sounds a lot like Ruffians!

CULTURE

Got an afternoon free…then fancy going to a gallery…wait right there. The best thing about Shoreditch is the amount of street art that is everywhere. Hours can be spent exploring the side streets of Shoreditch discovering some of the most impressive murals.

FOOD

Peckish?…time for a munch…head to Boxpark, you’ll be spoilt for choice, however the clear Ruffians favourite here is Rudie’s. We’d suggest the Curry Goat wrap…you won’t be disappointed. Feeling brave…fan of spice…go for the wings…*flame emoji*

PARTY

Time for a shuffle?…head down to Netil 360 for a roof top experience looking over the delights of East. Be ready for some stairs…you’ll be parched for a refreshing beer by the time you get to the top. Music is always great and there’s plenty of room to dance.

FOOD

Hungover on a Sunday?…perk yourself up with a naughty brunch from Wringer and Mangle. Situated just off from London Fields it’s a lovely spot to soak up the mistakes from the night before! Food is excellent and if you’re brave enough the brunch cocktails are perky

ACTIVITIES

After a leisurely morning/early afternoon why not take a stroll down to Victoria Park and chill! Over the summer period you can rent a pedalo in the park. Hopefully you’ll have some company because nobody likes going round in circles!
